‘There Can Be No Mistakes’: Trump Tells US Officials Not To Rush Iran Deal Published By, Last Updated: May 24, 2026, 20:09 IST Trump said he had instructed his representatives not to rush into any deal, arguing that “time is on our side.” US President Donald Trump. (AFP/File) US President Donald Trump on Sunday told his officials to proceed cautiously in ongoing peace talks with Iran to end the war, saying there must be “no mistakes" in the negotiations and that they should not “rush into a deal." In a lengthy post on Truth Social, Trump stressed that Iran must not be allowed to develop or acquire nuclear weapons, and said the talks should proceed carefully without errors. “Both sides must take their time and get it right.
There can be no mistakes!" he wrote. His latest post comes amid reports that an agreement to end the war in the Middle East was close. In his post, Trump also slammed the 2015 Iran nuclear deal, calling it “one of the worst deals ever made" and blaming former President Barack Obama and his administration for what he called as a pathway for Iran to develop nuclear weapons. He contrasted that agreement with the current negotiations under his administration, saying the process is being handled in an “orderly and constructive manner", adding that he had instructed his representatives not to rush into any deal. Furthermore, Trump said that the relationship with Iran is becoming a “much more professional and productive one". He also thanked his Gulf allies for their support and cooperation, suggesting that regional ties could be further strengthened through expanded participation in the Abraham Accords. Trump even floated the possibility of Iran eventually joining the agreement framework, though he did not provide details. “I would like to thank, thus far, all of the countries of the Middle East for their support and cooperation, which will be further enhanced and strengthened by their joining the Nations of the historic Abraham Accords and, who knows, perhaps the Islamic Republic of Iran would like to join, as well!" Trump concluded.
