Both sides agreed to intensify intelligence sharing, disrupt terror financing and take joint actions against groups threatening regional security. Doval and Rubio also discussed strengthening the Quad and enhancing maritime domain awareness. The meeting between the Indian and American delegations comes amid rising geopolitical tensions globally. Earlier, CNN-News18 reported that the two sides are also expected to discuss measures aimed at countering China’s growing influence in the South China Sea and the Indian Ocean region.

The meeting is also expected to review the potential expansion of joint military exercises such as Malabar, while both countries may discuss the strategic importance of securing critical maritime supply routes and supply chains. The two sides are likely to deliberate on increasing cooperation in clean energy, critical minerals and nuclear energy, while also exploring LNG supplies, renewable technology partnerships and joint investments in energy infrastructure. This came amid ongoing tensions in West Asia and concerns over global energy supply disruptions. Rubio-Jaishankar Talks This came after Rubio met External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, where the two sides stressed the importance of stable energy supplies and low global fuel prices amid concerns arising from the ongoing conflict involving Iran. Rubio said the US and India are “on the verge" of reaching a trade agreement, adding that both sides have made “tremendous progress" in talks aimed at rebalancing trade ties between the two countries.

He also dismissed suggestions that the India-US relationship had lost momentum. He also affirmed that the India-US relationship “continues to be strong and in fact, I believe by the end of this administration, it will be stronger than it has ever been. That’s certainly our goal." The US Secretary of State also made a mention of India joining the US-backed ‘Pax Silica’ initiative.
