Blaming IPAC for losing Assembly elections in the state, the TMC leader said, she was pressured by IPAC team during the elections that affected that party’s work process.
“The way small children tried to put pressure on us during election this is not the way to work. In my place all seats we have been defeated so am resigning," Dastidar said. This comes at a time when BJP candidate Debangshu Panda won the Falta Assembly constituency with more than 1 lakh votes, marking a landslide victory in TMC fortress on Sunday, May 24. According to Election Commission Of India, Panda bagged 1,48,749 votes. In the stronghold of Abhishek Banerjee’s much-publicised “Diamond Harbour Model," the Trinamool Congress not only suffered a crushing defeat but also lost its deposit.
TMC candidate Jahangir Khan slipped to fourth position after announcing his withdrawal from the race. Meanwhile, former West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee said, “EVMs were rigged during counting, votes were looted and I was pushed out of the counting centre." She said people of Bengal and All India Trinamool Congress workers have been victims of terror after the May 4 results.
