Villagers said the stunt could have turned fatal if electricity had been flowing through the line. As the man refused to come down, police and electricity department officials launched a coordinated effort to avert any mishap. Bhitauli police immediately contacted the power department and ensured that electricity supply to the line remained suspended during the rescue operation.
For several hours, villagers, police personnel and officials appealed to Deen Dayal to climb down. Their efforts eventually succeeded, and he descended safely from the pole, drawing relief from the crowd gathered at the scene.
