The Banaswadi police have arrested a notorious offender involved in 68 criminal cases across Karnataka. He had been absconding in connection with more than 30 non-bailable warrants and five proclamation proceedings. The accused, identified as Syed Abrar, was arrested during the investigation into a case registered at Banaswadi Police Station under Sections 331(2), 331(4), and 62 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
According to the police, officers developed intelligence through informants regarding the whereabouts of the accused during the course of the investigation. Acting on the information, a police team traced Syed Abrar to Bagalur and secured him for questioning on June 16, before initiating legal action. Further verification revealed that the accused has a long criminal history, with approximately 67 cases registered against him in Bengaluru city, Kolar, and Yadgir districts.
Records also showed that he had been absconding for several years and had failed to appear before courts in connection with more than 30 non-bailable warrants and over five
proclamation cases. The police said that the arrest is expected to aid the investigation of several pending cases and facilitate the execution of long-pending court orders against the accused.
