The Malleshwaram police have arrested three persons involved in a gold chain-snatching case and have recovered stolen property worth around ₹2.5 lakh. The arrested accused have been identified as Varun, 26, of Vijayanagar, Chandrakant Raj, 23, of Nandini Layout and Suhas, 24, of Agrahara Dasarahalli. The police recovered a 22-gram gold chain worth about ₹2.5 lakh and two motorcycles allegedly used in the crime. According to the police, on the night of June 8, a woman was walking near the Nandini Booth Circle in Malleswaram after having dinner with friends when two men on a motorcycle snatched her 22-gram gold chain and fled.
Based on the complaint, the Malleshwaram police launched an investigation and arrested Suhas from his residence in Agrahara Dasarahalli on June 16. During the interrogation, he allegedly confessed to committing the offence along with his associates. The other two accused were subsequently arrested from Nandini Layout. Further investigation revealed that the stolen chain had been pledged at a gold loan company in Basaveshwaranagar. The police recovered the chain and seized the two motorcycles used in the crime.
Another incident In another incident, the Yeshwanthpur police arrested a 24-year-old man involved in robbery and theft cases and recovered valuables worth approximately ₹2.2 lakh. The accused has been identified as Amar. The police recovered a 15-gram gold chain, a mobile phone, and cash from his possession. According to investigators, a retired government employee staying at a lodge near Yeshwanthpur Railway Station was out for a walk when the accused allegedly assaulted him, snatched his gold chain, gold ring, and mobile phone, and escaped.
After examining various leads and conducting a detailed investigation, the police traced and arrested Amar. The police said the arrest helped them solve two cases registered at the Yeshwanthpur Police Station, including one robbery case and one theft case.
