The ceremonial plaque unveiling was attended by US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor and Telangana Deputy CM Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka. Telangana has renamed a road outside the US Consulate in Hyderabad as ‘Donald Trump Avenue’. The stretch, earlier known as US Consulate Road in the Financial District of Nanakramguda, now carries the new designation.
The ceremonial plaque unveiling was attended by US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor and Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka on Tuesday. According to a statement from the US Consulate General in Hyderabad, the naming reflects the city’s rising importance in US-India relations and highlights Hyderabad’s role as a key hub for technology, defence, and investment cooperation. The event also coincided with celebrations marking 250 years of American independence. Speaking at the event, Ambassador Gor said Hyderabad’s consular region shows the “high-speed trajectory" of US-India ties, pointing to sectors such as IT, aerospace, and defence as key drivers of cooperation.
He also thanked the Telangana government for the gesture, calling it a symbol of strong bilateral partnership. Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Vikramarka congratulated the US on its Independence Day milestone and reiterated the state’s commitment to deepening ties with American partners. US Consul General Laura Williams also highlighted Hyderabad’s growing innovation ecosystem across technology, AI, aerospace, and biopharma, calling it central to global collaboration.
