Tamil Nadu CM Vijay Senior DMK leader and Tiruchendur MLA Anitha Radhakrishnan on Sunday intensified the political attack on the Tamil Nadu government led by Chief Minister Joseph Vijay, claiming the administration would not survive beyond the next few months. Addressing a party gathering in southern Tamil Nadu, Radhakrishnan said the TVK-led government would collapse within “four to six months" and asserted that former chief minister M K Stalin would soon return to power. “After four or six months, our leader will once again become chief minister," he said.
‘Resign And Contest Against Me’ Radhakrishnan also challenged Aadhav Arjuna, a senior leader of the ruling Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), to resign from the Villivakkam Assembly seat and contest against him in Tiruchendur. “If you have the courage, resign from your MLA post. I will also resign and we can face each other in Tiruchendur. This is our town. We can defeat anyone here," he said. Tiruchendur has remained Radhakrishnan’s political bastion for nearly 25 years. He first won the seat in 2001 on an AIADMK ticket before later joining the DMK and retaining the constituency. Stalin’s Defeat Mentioned During Speech The DMK leader also came to Stalin’s defence after the former chief minister lost the Kolathur constituency in the Assembly election to VS Babu, a former DMK functionary who later joined Vijay’s TVK.
Radhakrishnan praised Stalin’s development work in Kolathur, saying he had transformed the constituency “like Singapore". He also took a swipe at voters who defeated Stalin, describing them as “worthless". He added that the DMK wanted Stalin to contest from Tiruchirappalli in the future. TVK’s Rise Reshaped Tamil Nadu Politics The remarks come amid an increasingly bitter political confrontation between the DMK and the ruling TVK. Vijay’s victory in the recent Assembly election marked one of the biggest political shifts in Tamil Nadu in decades. TVK won 108 seats in the 234-member Assembly, breaking the decades-long dominance of the DMK and AIADMK. The party later secured support from the Congress, Left parties and Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi to cross the majority mark and form the government. Vijay was subsequently sworn in as chief minister and later won a trust vote in the Assembly.
Since taking office, the TVK government has faced repeated criticism from the DMK over governance and administrative appointments. The ruling party, however, has consistently rejected claims that the government is unstable.
