Heavy rainfall on the intervening night of June 23 and June 24 triggered devastating flash floods and inundation in the Yazali circle of Papum Pare district, Arunachal Pradesh. An under-construction retaining wall collapsed, leading to flooding in the low-lying residential quarters of the Neeco project. More than fifteen residential quarters were damaged, and one woman was reported missing, with fears of potential loss of life.
In response, the State Disaster Response Force was mobilized, while the Disaster Response Force was put on alert. Neeco temporarily shut down its powerhouse and began releasing water from the dam. Additionally, neighboring Assam was alerted to potential downstream flooding.
