The controversy surrounding an alleged sacrilege video involving Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has intensified. Gurugram police claim that the Punjab chief minister's team attempted to procure a fabricated forensic report declaring the video manipulated. Two individuals, Ankit and Arun, have been arrested based on a complaint from a whistleblower named Jaspreet Singh, who alleged he was offered ten lakh rupees by Punjab police personnel to create a forged report in Mann's favour.
Following the controversy, the Akal Takht declared the video authentic and termed Mann 'Panth virodhi'. The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee has mandated the installation of billboards near gurdwaras urging a social boycott of the chief minister. While the Aam Aadmi Party maintains Mann's innocence and state chief Aman Arora attributes the allegations to a political conspiracy by the BJP-ruled Haryana government, opposition parties including the Akali Dal, Congress, and BJP are demanding Bhagwant Mann's immediate removal.
The Haryana police investigation counters the claims previously made by Punjab minister Harpal Singh Cheema regarding the video's authenticity.
