Rapid Read Twisha Sharma (Image Credits: X) Fresh revelations have emerged in the death case of 33-year-old Twisha Sharma, the former Miss Pune contestant who was found dead at her matrimonial home in Bhopal on May 12. In a bail application filed by the accused side, Twisha’s mother-in-law has accused her of taking drugs. Twisha, originally from Noida, had married Bhopal-based lawyer Samarth Singh in December 2025 after the two reportedly met through a dating app in 2024. Her death triggered outrage after her family accused her husband and in-laws of dowry harassment, mental torture and physical abuse.
Police subsequently booked Samarth Singh and his mother, retired judge Giribala Singh, while a Special Investigation Team (SIT) was formed to investigate the case. Now, in a fresh twist, a bail plea submitted by Twisha’s mother-in-law has made a series of allegations against the deceased woman. According to the application, Twisha was allegedly addicted to drugs and would experience trembling in her hands whenever she did not receive them. The plea further claimed that she had “easy access" to narcotic substances while staying in Noida. The application also alleged that Twisha’s behaviour changed after she became pregnant and claimed she had gone missing between April 17 and April 18. It further stated that after returning from Noida on April 30, she allegedly consumed a “heavy quantity of marijuana". In another controversial claim, the plea alleged that Twisha had earlier undergone an abortion due to a drug overdose.
It also stated that she was undergoing psychiatric treatment in Bhopal and that her in-laws had been arranging her medical care. ‘I Am Trapped’ The allegations come even as Twisha’s family continues to insist that she was being harassed and wanted to leave her marital home. Alleged messages sent by Twisha before her death signal emotional distress. In one of the chats that surfaced online, she reportedly wrote, “I am trapped bro. Bas tu mat phasna." In another message to her mother, she allegedly said, “Mujhe bahut zyada ghutan ho rahi hai maa" (“I feel suffocated, mother"). Her family has also alleged that she faced pressure over her pregnancy and abortion. The post-mortem report reportedly noted multiple ante-mortem injuries on her body apart from ligature marks. Meanwhile, six days after her death, Twisha’s family has reportedly refused to accept her body, demanding a deeper investigation and further forensic examination.
A hearing on the anticipatory bail plea of her husband, Samarth Singh, is scheduled for today.
