In a joint operation, Davanagere police and Central Intelligence officials have arrested a suspected terror operative from Uttar Pradesh allegedly linked to a Pakistan-based terror organisation, officials said on Tuesday. The accused, identified as Suhail, was apprehended from a village of Davanagere district, where he had reportedly been living under the guise of a painter.
Police said the arrest was made following inputs gathered during interrogation of two suspected terrorists recently detained in Tumakuru and Davanagere for allegedly plotting terror-related activities. Those leads, officials said, pointed investigators to Suhail’s alleged role and location. Read Full Story The operation was carried out jointly by Davanagere police, Central Intelligence officials and the district crime branch under the supervision of Davanagere Superintendent of Police H T Shekhar.
A team led by Davanagere Rural Deputy Superintendent of Police Basavaraj participated in the raid. Following his arrest, Suhail was taken to Tumakuru under tight security by teams from Davanagere, Tumakuru and Central Intelligence units for further questioning and investigation. Officials said further details about the alleged terror network and the extent of the accused’s involvement are being ascertained as the probe continues.
