Vance, who is the author of a bestselling memoir titled Communion: Finding My Way Back to Faith, appears to have agitated his MAGA base. Well, thanks to his awkward admission of his relationship statuses –– one with an Indian, another with a Pakistani, according to the Times of India.
During his recent visit to Switzerland for negotiations with Iran to end the war in West Asia, JD Vance stated: “I have joked that I have two very, very important people in my life: An Indian and a Pakistani. The Indian is my wife, and the Pakistani is Field Marshal Munir." When asked about a Pakistani journalist about the country’s role in peace talks, the U.S. Vice President said: “I love Pakistan". Even if his wife, Usha Vance, was offended at being bracketed with a Pakistani, she did manage to hide her frustration. However, the comments did not sit well with the MAGA base, which sits on a diet of unilateral American sovereignty, frequently advocating ‘America First’ policy. ‘Vance Loves Pak, I Don’t’ Republican Senator Rick Scott remarked that Pakistan and Qatar –– the mediator nations in U.S.-Iran peace talks –– possess a “long history of harboring terrorists and right now they seem far more invested in propping up Iran’s decades-long terror campaign than achieving a meaningful peace", Times of India reported.
Montana’s Tim Sheehy clearly reminded Fox News viewers how Pakistan spent decades protecting and harbouring Osama Bin Laden, one of the world’s most notorious terrorists who orchestrated the infamous 9/11 attacks. Conservative talk-show host Meghan McCain clearly declared: “JD Vance loves Pakistan. Well, I don’t". The growing disagreement within Vance’s MAGA base with his “love" for Pakistan, especially its Field Marshall Asim Munir, appears to be doing damage to the prospects of his candidature for the 2028 Presidential elections. Just days earlier, the U.S. VP was under scanner, when his wife Usha Vance told CBS News that she didn’t need to convert, despite her husband’s wish which he has expressed several times. “I grew up in a Hindu household that was very stable … I have not felt the same need to seek something different that he has," Usha, who is pregnant with JD Vance’s fourth child, said. While JD Vance has publicly expressed his admiration towards his faith, hoping his family shares it, Usha Vance has stayed firmly connected to her Hindu upbringing, which reflects her individuality.
