A 55-year-old man, his wife, and their younger daughter were murdered, allegedly by their elder daughter and her boyfriend, at an apartment in Seegehalli under K.R. Puram Police Station limits in east Bengaluru late on Monday night. The deceased have been identified as Somasundar, 55, Muthulakshmi, 48, and Supriya, 20. Their bodies were found in a flat at Sai Green Apartment in Dhamnika Layout, Seegehalli. Somasundar was a software professional, and Supriya was pursuing her graduation. The accused, Shwetha, a private firm employee and the elder daughter of the couple, and her boyfriend, Kenneth, were allegedly in a live-in relationship.
They were residing in a flat that was rented a month and a half ago. The victims are said to have opposed the relationship, leading to frequent disputes within the family. The couple and their younger daughter had visited their elder daughter around 7 p.m., on the night of the incident. The police suspect that there was an argument, which escalated, as the parents objected to Shwetha’s relationship with Kenneth. They suspect that Shwetha and Kenneth stabbed the trio to death before fleeing from the scene.
The crime came to light after neighbours alerted the authorities. Senior officers from the K.R. Puram Police Station visited the spot and conducted an inspection. The bodies were shifted to a hospital for post-mortem examination. A case has been registered, and efforts are on to trace the accused. “There might have been an argument, following which the stabbing occurred. Police teams are working to trace the accused.,” Bengaluru East Division Deputy Commissioner of Police Saidulu Adavath said. City Police Commissioner Seemant Kumar Singh said that six teams have been formed to track down the accused who are presently on the run.
Explaining the crime, he said that the victims had sustained multiple stab injuries and had died due to excessive bleeding. A security guard said neither he nor the neighbours heard any commotion, and the CCTV captured the accused walking out of the apartment.
