A major political decision has emerged from Odisha as Assembly Speaker Surama Padhy rejected disqualification petitions filed against 11 MLAs. The petitions were submitted by the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) and the Indian Congress (INC) after the Rajya Sabha elections, alleging that certain MLAs had defied party directives. The case involved eight BJD MLAs and three Congress MLAs.
After reviewing the matter, the Speaker decided to reject the petitions, allowing all 11 legislators to continue as members of the Assembly.
