Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) spokesperson H.A. Venkatesh has criticised Union Minister for Heavy Industries and Steel H.D. Kumaraswamy’s reported statement on ‘payment quota’ for ministerial berths. In a statement here on Tuesday, Mr. Venkatesh said Mr. Kumaraswamy, who is a former Chief Minister holding a responsible position, should not make such “frivolous” and “baseless” statements.
The statement by the JD(S) leader, who alleged that “management and payment quotas” are being used to collect money from aspirants seeking ministerial positions in the State, reflects the “frustration and jealousy” simmering within him, the KPCC spokesperson said. “Such remarks are, however, expected from Mr. Kumaraswamy, who has long set aside political morality.
Having treated his own opportunistic political conduct as a great achievement, Mr. Kumaraswamy appears to assume that others too would follow the same practices he allegedly adopted while in power,” he said. Contending that Mr. Kumaraswamy’s assumption is misplaced, Mr. Venkatesh said a sensible politician confronts political opponents through intellectual strength, administrative capability and extensive development work.
Accusing Mr. Kumaraswamy of “shamelessly” indulging in “unethical alliance politics”, Mr. Venkatesh said he should elevate the quality of his thinking and develop the ability to view politicians from other parties with a broader perspective.
