Several schools in Hyderabad remained closed on Tuesday following a bandh call by the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) to highlight concerns raised by parents and students over rising fees in private institutions and the absence of a regulatory framework.
The bandh, organisers said, was aimed at pressing for immediate government intervention to regulate private school fee structures and curb arbitrary fee hikes that have been placing a heavy financial burden on families. In
a release, the ABVP stated that parents from various districts have expressed concerns over escalating educational costs and the lack of transparency in fee collection practices adopted by several private institutions. The student body
urged the State government to enact a comprehensive private school fee regulation Act and set up an independent regulatory authority to monitor fee structures, review annual revisions, and ensure accountability in the private education sector.
