Police suspect that the duo murdered the 26-year-old by pushing him into a gorge at Lohagad Fort near Pune on June 18. Initially, investigators believed Ketan had accidentally fallen into the gorge while taking photographs and later succumbed to his injuries.
Death Initially Believed To Be An Accident According to the Lonavala Rural Police, Ketan and Siya, who got engaged in February and were set to marry in November, had visited Lohagad Fort to celebrate Siya’s birthday. At around 10.30 am, Siya informed authorities that Ketan had slipped while clicking pictures and fallen into a deep gorge, leading to his death. The couple’s families had reportedly planned an extravagant wedding in Udaipur, booking a luxury palace for Rs 17 crore in Jaipur and arranging two private aircraft for guests. Police Suspect Fiancée Opposed Marriage Investigators later found that Siya was allegedly unwilling to go ahead with the marriage and had conspired with Chetan Chaudhary, with whom she had been acquainted for nearly a year. Pune Rural Superintendent of Police Sandeep Singh Gill said, “On June 18, 2026, Siya Goyal and Ketan Agarwal, who got engaged in February, went to Lohagad Fort for trekking.
Around 10:30–10:45 am, Siya Goyal informed by phone that Ketan Agarwal had slipped and fallen from the fort and died." “Based on confidential sources, witness statements and technical evidence, police found that Siya Goyal and her friend Chetan Chaudhary, who knew each other for about a year, allegedly planned the incident. It is believed they pushed Ketan Agarwal from Lohagad Fort, causing his death," he added. Gill further said investigators suspect Siya had made an earlier attempt to kill Ketan during a previous trek to Lohagad Fort this month, but that plan had failed.
