Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala has announced an initiative to remove long-abandoned vehicles lying on and around police station premises across the State. Speaking to mediapersons after reviewing the ongoing activities of the Kerala Police Housing and Construction Corporation Ltd.
(KPHCC) here on Tuesday, Mr. Chennithala said the project titled SPACE (Scrap Processing for Area Cleanup and Enhancement) will be launched to systematically dispose of vehicles that have remained parked at police stations for years. The project will be implemented by KPHCC in collaboration with Cero, the country’s first government-authorised vehicle recycling initiative, operating as a joint initiative between Mahindra Accelo and MSTC Limited, a Government of India enterprise.
A committee headed by the State Police Chief and including the managing director of KPHCC will oversee the formulation and implementation of the project. Chennithala
said the police stations have been directed to conduct a comprehensive inventory of abandoned vehicles and complete the required procedures within a stipulated timeframe.
