(MEA) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday announced that India and Norway have entered into a Green Strategic Partnership and thanked the country for standing with India on terrorism. During a press statement alongside his Norwegian counterpart Jonas Gahr Støre, PM Modi also announced that Norway would join the Indo-Pacific Oceans Initiative from today. “As two major maritime nations, we will work together to strengthen cooperation in the marine economy, maritime security, and capacity building," he said.
FOLLOW LIVE UPDATES PM Modi Thanks Norway For Supporting India’s Stance On Terrorism The Prime Minister expressed gratitude to Støre for a warm welcome in Norway and extended his greetings on the country’s Constitution Day. He also thanked Norway for supporting India’s stance onterrorism during the Pahalgam terror attack last year. “I was scheduled to visit Norway last year, but the visit had to be postponed because of the terrorist attack in Pahalgam. During that difficult time, Norway stood firmly with India against terrorism and demonstrated the spirit of true friendship. Today, as I visit Norway, I express my sincere gratitude for this solidarity," he said. PM Modi Hails ‘Golden Era’ Of India-Europe Ties Prime Minister Modi also said that India and Europe are entering a “golden era" in their relations.
“Last year, India and the European Free Trade Association implemented a historic Trade and Economic Partnership Agreement. This agreement serves as a blueprint for ensuring shared progress and prosperity between India and Norway," he said. Modi stressed that India and Norway would combine their scale, speed, talent and technology to develop solutions for the future. He also confirmed that an MoU has been signed between ISRO and the Norwegian Space Agency to expand their space cooperation. “Both India and Norway believe in a rules-based order, dialogue, and diplomacy. We are united in the view that no issue can be resolved through military conflict. Whether it is Ukraine or West Asia, we support every effort aimed at an early end to conflict and the restoration of peace — and we will continue to do so," he continued.
