(Photo: ANI) The family of Ketan Agarwal, who was allegedly murdered at Lohagad Fort near Pune by his fiancée, Siya Goyal, and her alleged lover, Chetan Chaudhary, said they would have cancelled the wedding had Siya simply refused to marry him. Ketan’s father, Vishal Agarwal, a prominent real-estate businessman, questioned why Siya allegedly resorted to such an extreme step and blamed her upbringing. “What kind of mindset is this? Their mindset is so cruel that someone’s 26-year-old son could be killed. Society needs to take note of such a cruel mindset. Where does this ideology come from — their family, their upbringing?" Vishal Agarwal told ANI.
Ketan, a director in the family’s business, was allegedly pushed to death from Lohagad Fort on June 18. Police have arrested both Siya Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary and charged them with murder. Vishal Agarwal said the family initially believed Ketan’s death was an accident. However, he said they became suspicious when Siya showed no visible signs of grief after police brought Ketan’s body home. “We thought it was an accident. But when the police came with his body, Siya didn’t show any reaction. There was no sadness on her face, and that bothered us," he said. However, Ketan’s passport was allegedly stolen at the airport, forcing him to cancel the trip. He alleged that on the day of the incident, Chetan Chaudhary arrived at Lohagad Fort on a two-wheeler and, along with Siya, attacked Ketan with an object before pushing him off the fort.
“The police were helpful and resolved the case very quickly," he said. Ketan’s mother demanded the death penalty for Siya and her boyfriend. “My son is no more. Siya and her boyfriend are entirely responsible for it. She (Siya) betrayed me and lied…There was nothing suspicious; we didn’t have a single doubt.
