'Nuclear Honesty': Trump Says Iran Agreed To Highest Level Of Inspections Despite Tehran's Denial Published By, Last Updated: June 23, 2026, 17:17 IST Trump said Iran agreed to extensive, long-term international inspections of its nuclear programme, calling it a "major concession" by Tehran. US President Donald Trump. (Image: AFP) Days after leaders from the US and Iran held technical-level talks in Switzerland to end the West Asia conflict, US President Donald Trump on Tuesday claimed that Iran has agreed to accept extensive international inspections of its nuclear programme for an extended period, describing the move as a “major concession" by Tehran. “Iran has fully and completely agreed to the highest level of nuclear inspections for a long period in the future," the US President stated. Trump made the remarks despite the Islamic Republic denying any such agreement.
Earlier on Monday, Iran had rejected US Vice President JD Vance’s claim that Tehran had agreed to allow International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) inspectors back into the country, a development which he said was “probably what we’re most excited about as Americans." Pushing back on Vance’s claim about IAEA inspectors, Iran had said that its cooperation with the UN nuclear watchdog would continue “under the current procedures." “Despite their protestations and false statements to the contrary, coupled with the drumbeat of the Fake News, which is doing everything possible to make the US Victory as small and insignificant as possible, Iran has fully and completely agreed to highest level Nuclear inspections long into the future (Infinity!!!). This will insure “Nuclear Honesty." If they did not agree to this, there would be no further negotiations!" Trump wrote in a post on Truth Social.
The Republican leader also indicated that the purported agreement formed part of a broader understanding between Washington and Tehran. He said that based on “other major concessions being made by Iran," he had agreed to allow the Strait of Hormuz to remain open and ruled out any immediate naval blockade, while noting that US ships would remain in position should circumstances change. “Based on this and other major concessions being made by Iran, I have agreed to allow the Hormuz Strait to remain OPEN, with no further Naval Blockade. However, all ships are remaining in place should it be necessary to reinstitute the Blockade, which seems, at this point, highly unlikely," he further wrote.
