Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan | File photo: PTI Amid growing protests by the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) over the NEET-UG paper leak, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan accused the satirical group of acting as the “B team of disruptive elements", even as it continued to demand his resignation, according to an NDTV report. Dharmendra Pradhan on CJP Speaking about the protests, the Education Minister said the organisation was acting on behalf of forces seeking to create disruption. “They are the B team of disruptive elements. Those who were rejected in democracy have come in disguise and are now after the system. They raise slogans for those who want to divide the country. They have been identified," Pradhan said, as quoted by NDTV.
The senior BJP leader also said that some people did not have faith in the country’s progress. His remarks come at a time when the outfit has been seeking his resignation over allegations surrounding the NEET-UG paper leak. Protests over NEET paper leak The Cockroach Janata Party had been protesting against the alleged leak of the NEET-UG question paper and demanding accountability from the Education Ministry. The issue has remained in focus since concerns emerged over the integrity of the examination process, leading to calls for corrective measures and action against those responsible. The protests intensified after the original examination was cancelled and authorities decided to conduct a fresh test. Over 22 lakh candidates take re-exam Pradhan’s comments came a day after more than 22 lakh medical aspirants appeared for the NEET re-examination. The fresh examination was conducted more than a month after the earlier test was scrapped following allegations of a paper leak. Authorities put in place extensive security arrangements to ensure the smooth conduct of the examination.
The re-test was held under a multi-layered security framework involving the country’s armed forces as well as state police units. Senior officials were deployed across different parts of India to oversee the process and monitor examination centres. ‘Fair and transparent’ examination The Testing Body said all necessary arrangements had been made to provide a fair and transparent environment for candidates. Officials maintained that strict measures were implemented to prevent any irregularities and ensure the credibility of the examination process. Pradhan also described the re-examination as a success, expressing satisfaction with the arrangements made for the nationwide test. Remarks on those involved in leak The Education Minister also criticised teachers who were allegedly found to be involved in the paper leak case. Referring to their role, he said they were “protectors who turned predators". The remark came as authorities continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the leak and the alleged involvement of individuals entrusted with safeguarding the examination process. The NEET controversy has triggered political debate and public scrutiny in recent weeks, with the re-examination seen as an attempt to restore confidence in one of the country’s most important entrance tests for aspiring doctors.
