Visakhapatnam District Collector M. Abhishikth Kishore has directed officials to ensure that every child below five years of age receives polio drops during the Pulse Polio Immunisation programme on June 28, 2026. Reviewing arrangements with officials of various departments on Monday (June 22, 2026), the Collector said no eligible child should be left out of the campaign. He told officials to give polio drops at designated booths on June 28, and to make door-to-door visits on June 29 and 30 to find and cover children missed in the first phase.
The district has identified 1,89,712 children in the 0-5 age group as beneficiaries. Authorities will set up 1,062 polio booths, 62 transit booths and 94 mobile booths across the district. As many as 2,004 special teams, 4,518 vaccinators and 120 supervisors will be deployed for the campaign. Mr. Kishore directed officials to hold task force meetings at the mandal level and involve the Education Department in identifying children and ensuring they come to the booths.
He also told Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) officials to involve Anganwadi workers and supervisors in booth management and house-to-house surveys. Stocks of 2,09,653 bOPV doses have been arranged, and 49 cold-chain units will ensure proper
storage and distribution of the vaccine. The Collector called for wide public awareness campaigns through several platforms and directed officials to set up transit booths at bus and railway stations to reach children travelling with their families.
