11-Year-Old Abducted From South Delhi's Mehrauli, Raped, Killed In Gurugram; Cab Driver Arrested Published By, Last Updated: June 23, 2026, 14:25 IST Delhi Police say an 11 year old girl was abducted from Mehrauli, raped and murdered in Gurugram, a 25 year old app based cab driver Bablu was arrested, body and car recovered A file photo of Delhi Police (PTI) An 11-year-old girl was allegedly abducted from a footpath in south Delhi’s Mehrauli area, taken to Gurugram, raped and murdered, with police arresting a 25-year-old app-based cab driver within hours of the crime. The victim, who lived with her family on a pavement near CDR Chowk in Mehrauli, was sleeping alongside her family when she was allegedly abducted around 5 am on June 22. The girl’s family informed police through a PCR call after discovering that she had been taken away. According to the police, the victim’s father told investigators that he heard his daughter screaming as she was being abducted by a man in a car.
However, he was unable to provide the registration number of the vehicle, leaving investigators with little information in the initial stages of the probe. Following the complaint, Delhi Police launched an extensive search operation and constituted multiple teams to trace the missing child. Officials said investigators scanned footage from hundreds of CCTV cameras and used technical surveillance tools to identify the vehicle involved in the kidnapping. According to police, investigators eventually traced a WagonR car suspected to have been used in the crime. The vehicle was linked to Bablu, 25, a driver who worked with two app-based cab service companies. A senior police officer said multiple teams were formed immediately after the complaint was received, and CCTV footage from surrounding areas was analysed to track the suspect. Soon after, the accused cab driver was traced and nabbed. During interrogation, the accused allegedly confessed to abducting the minor from the footpath in Mehrauli and taking her to a forested area in Gurugram.
Police said the accused admitted that he sexually assaulted the child before killing her. Investigators said he later attempted to destroy evidence by dumping the victim’s body along the Faridabad-Gurugram road. Based on information provided by the accused, police recovered the girl’s body from the location identified during questioning. The WagonR car allegedly used in the kidnapping was also recovered. “The body was later recovered from the location and sent for post-mortem examination to ascertain the exact cause of death," officials told PTI. Police have registered a case against the accused under charges of kidnapping, rape and murder. Forensic teams have collected evidence from both the suspected crime scene and the location where the body was recovered. Officials said investigators are now working to reconstruct the sequence of events leading up to the crime and determine whether the accused has any previous criminal record.
