The Special Investigation Team (SIT) has submitted its preliminary report to Uttar Pradesh Home Secretary Sanjay Prasad regarding the alleged theft of donations at the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. The investigation, led by Lucknow Divisional Commissioner Vijay Vishwas Pant, has exposed procedural lapses at multiple administrative levels. According to the findings, key trust officials, including General Secretary Champat Rai, Anil Mishra, and Gopal Rao, failed to properly discharge their duties, leading to the embezzlement of temple funds.
The probe revealed the involvement of middlemen like Tinnu Yadav and Luvkush Mishra, alongside temporary staff and security personnel. The SIT highlighted negligence concerning vehicle movement, the handling of donated jewellery, gate passes, and the CCTV monitoring cell. Furthermore, the cash counting procedure, initially assigned to the State Bank of India, had been outsourced to a private agency. With the Ram Mandir witnessing a daily footfall of over ten lakh devotees, the final investigation report will be submitted to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in 15 days for strict action.
