Over 3 kg of gold seized from residence of arrested Trinamool leader Sabyasachi Dutta’s aide

The Bidhannagar City Police on Tuesday (June 23, 2026) recovered three kilograms of gold from the residence of Zilla Parshad functionary at Tehatta in Nadia district. The gold is allegedly linked to Trinamool Congress leader and former Mayor of Bidhannagar Municipal Corporation Sabyasachi Dutta. The gold, whose market price is over ₹4.30 crore, was seized from the ancestral house of Tina Bhowmik Saha, the Zilla Parishad member who is said to be close to Sabyasachi Dutta.
Trinamool MLA Sabyasachi Dutta was taken to Nadia, for overnight search operation in Nadia. Sabyasachi Dutta was arrested by the Bidhannagar City Police on June 8 on charges of extortion. Earlier, the investigators had seized about three and a half kg of gold from the former MLA's flat and bank locker. According to police sources, the investigators have come to know that Sabyasachi Dutta used to buy gold with the extortion money.
In another development, demolition was ordered within seven days for the alleged illegal cafe owned by Irfan Molla, son of the arrested former Trinamool Congress MLA Saokat Molla. The luxury establishment had allegedly been built by capturing over 7 acres of riverine land. The District Authorities have stated that if the structure is not demolished within seven days, the administration will carry out the demolition. Saokat Molla was arrested by the Investigation Agency (NIA) in connection with a bomb blast in Bhanagar in the run-up to the recent West Bengal Assembly election.
Hundreds of Trinamool Congress leaders, including former MLAs and former Ministers, have been arrested since the change of regime in West Bengal in May 2026.
