Fifteen people died and several were injured in a fire at a building in Lucknow. The structure, originally approved for residential use, was operating commercial activities, including a gaming zone and an animation centre. Survivors and victims' families stated that the building lacked emergency exits and proper ventilation. A biometric system locked the doors during the fire, trapping individuals inside as smoke engulfed the premises.
Following the incident, authorities arrested four individuals, including Virendra Prasad Shukla, Ramakrishna Upadhyay, Tushlok Krishna Jaiswal, and Suresh Sahu. In a parallel administrative action, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath ordered the suspension of four government officials—Gaurav Kumar, Kamlendra Kumar Singh, Anil Kumar, and Pramod Pandey—over alleged lapses in enforcing fire safety and building norms. Medical officials confirmed that 15 victims were brought dead, while others sustained injuries, including one person who suffered a spinal cord injury after jumping from the building to escape the blaze.
