The Tamil Nadu Chief Minister has accused the previous state government of diverting state liquor corporation revenues to fund political activities, promising a corruption-free administration. Speaking in the state assembly, the Chief Minister outlined the new government's priorities, emphasizing law and order, women's safety, and a cooperative approach with the central government for the state's welfare. In response, the primary opposition party dismissed the corruption allegations as baseless propaganda.
Opposition representatives challenged the current administration to initiate a formal investigation and arrest those involved, pointing out that the ruling party now controls the police department. Furthermore, the opposition questioned the new government's progress on tackling the state's drug problem during its initial days in power. Meanwhile, a Bharatiya Janata Party spokesperson welcomed the Chief Minister's decision to work collaboratively with the Centre.
However, the spokesperson urged the state administration to shift its focus from criticizing the previous government to actively improving the law and order situation and preventing crimes against women and children.
