During a recent legislative assembly session, the Tamil Nadu government outlined its primary policy stances and administrative decisions. The ruling party announced a massive crop loan waiver of over 5,932 crore rupees benefiting more than 14 lakh farmers. Addressing state rights, the government reaffirmed its commitment to a two-language policy, opposing any mandatory language imposition, and reiterated its strong opposition to the NEET examination, advocating for medical admissions based on twelfth-standard marks.
The administration also detailed its demands presented at the NITI Aayog meeting, which include requests for two new AIIMS hospitals, funds for the Hogenakkal drinking water project, and declaring Thirukkural as national literature. Furthermore, the government addressed concerns regarding law and order, promising stringent action against crimes targeting women and the ongoing drug menace. The ruling party criticized the previous administration for neglecting these issues and alleged widespread corruption related to state-run liquor sales and party funds, asserting its focus on secularism, social justice, and cooperative federalism.
