A fire in Lucknow has exposed civic body negligence after official records revealed that the fire-hit building was constructed on a residential permit. Although the plan was approved for residential use in 2014, a commercial complex had been operating on the site for over a decade. Officials and engineers of the Lucknow Development Authority who cleared the project are now facing a probe.

Additionally, six pets were killed in the blaze, which affected a pet shop on the ground floor.
