A fire incident in a Lucknow building has claimed fifteen lives. Preliminary reports indicate that after the fire broke out, the building's biometric gate locked automatically, trapping people inside. The building lacked an emergency exit and had insufficient staircase space, forcing several occupants to jump from windows or use electrical wires to escape.
One student suffered a spinal injury after jumping. Originally approved by the Lucknow Development Authority as a residential property, the building was allegedly converted into a commercial complex in 2014. An administration investigation is underway to examine safety measures and compliance with fire safety standards.
