A massive fire broke out at a commercial complex in Aliganj, Lucknow, claiming the lives of fifteen people and leaving several others injured. The building housed a gaming zone, a coaching centre, and a pet store. Most of the deceased were young students. Preliminary reports indicate that the blaze was triggered by a short circuit in an air conditioner located in the basement. Authorities are investigating potential lapses in safety compliance.
Following the incident, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath cancelled his visit to Aligarh and arrived at the site to review the situation. He directed officials to take strict action against those responsible and ensure accountability at all levels. The Chief Minister also visited the hospital to meet the injured and assured support to the families. Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh also visited the city.
The Prime Minister announced financial assistance for the families of the deceased and the injured. The incident has raised questions regarding safety regulations and commercial operations in residential areas.
