A three-member Special Investigation Team probing the alleged donation theft and misappropriation at the Ayodhya Ram Temple has uncovered serious lapses at multiple levels. The probe flagged negligence in cash handling, employee verification, CCTV monitoring, and transport of offerings. According to the investigation, the State Bank of India outsourced cash handling to a private agency, which hired locals, including accused Anukalp Mishra and Luv Kush Mishra, through recommendations from individuals associated with the temple trust.
The probe also revealed inadequate security screening, lax dress codes for cash-counting staff, and employees blocking CCTV cameras to hide thefts. While the Nirmohi Akhara criticised the temple trustees for global embarrassment, the Allahabad High Court refused an urgent hearing on pleas regarding the scam.
