Rapid Read Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath in Mahoba. (CMO) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday inaugurated and laid foundation stones for 88 development projects worth over Rs 697 crore in Mahoba’s Modi Gram, on the occasion of the 12th International Yoga Day. Before arriving in Mahoba, Adityanath participated in the International Yoga Day programme at the Rani Lakshmibai Fort grounds in Jhansi, which was organised by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He told the gathering that yoga programmes were held across 57,000 Gram Panchayats, 825 development blocks, 350 tehsils, 75 districts and 762 urban local bodies in Uttar Pradesh on the same day. “Yoga inspires harmony between the body, mind, intellect and soul. A healthy body leads to a healthy mind, a healthy mind leads to a healthy intellect, a healthy intellect leads to a healthy soul, and a healthy soul paves the way for public welfare.
Those who indulge in illegal encroachments and spread negativity with a negative mindset have tainted souls and polluted minds. Such people, working with a diseased mentality, had ruined the state and brought disrepute to Bundelkhand," he said. Addressing the public gathering, the Chief Minister said he climbed Gorakhgiri Mountain after 12 to 13 years, offered prayers at the Lord Shiva temple, and visited the cave where Guru Gorakhnath performed penance. He stated that trekking competitions should be organised at local, district, Bundelkhand, state and national levels for a week before the Mahoba Mahotsav, and called for restaurants and hotels to be opened in the area. At the same event, he announced a ropeway installation at Gorakhgiri Mountain and declared the site would be developed for adventure tourism. CM Yogi On Water Infrastructure On water infrastructure, Adityanath said work on the Ken-Betwa Canal Project is in progress and will fully address Bundelkhand’s water shortage once completed. He cited the Arjun Sahayak Project, which he said his government completed after it remained unfinished for decades, providing irrigation to thousands of hectares in Mahoba and Banda.
Prime Minister Modi inaugurated the project in 2021, he said. Adityanath also said that BrahMos missiles manufactured in Uttar Pradesh’s Defence Manufacturing Corridor were used during Operation Sindoor against Pakistan, and that he wants Bundelkhand, including Mahoba, Hamirpur, Chitrakoot and Jhansi, to develop into missile manufacturing hubs in the coming years. On Mahoba’s identity, Adityanath said his government secured a Geographical Indication tag for the district’s Dashavari Paan through geo-tagging. He called for the variety to become the region’s signature product and for local folk traditions to receive wider recognition. “Mahoba was once famous for its festivals. The granite stone extracted here is not used merely for making tiles or houses; this land contributes to the nation’s development. This land not only produces brave men and women but also nurtures active participation in nation-building," he said. The Chief Minister said his government resolved a long-pending compensation dispute for farmers who had provided land for the Kabrai Dam. He added that projects including Ratoli Dam, Bawani Dam, Kachnauda Dam and Chilli Sprinkler Irrigation are currently being completed.
