Three people were killed in three separate road accidents reported in Bengaluru since late Sunday night. A 34-year-old private company employee, identified as Gauri Shankar of M.N. Nagar, died after a speeding goods vehicle rammed his motorcycle in HMT Layout, Yeshwanthpur, within the limits of the Peenya Traffic Police Station in the early hours of Monday. The police said the accident occurred around 4.45 a.m. when Gauri Shankar was riding his motorcycle.
His bike was dragged for some distance, leaving him critically injured. Passers-by rushed him to a hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival. The Peenya traffic police have registered a case and are investigating. In another incident, a security guard, Kapendra Maje, originally from Nepal, was killed after being hit by a water tanker while crossing the Varthur-Gunjur Main Road near Gandhi Circle around 3 a.m. The accident occurred within the jurisdiction of the Whitefield Traffic Police Station.
Maje, who lived in Varthur, was returning home after work when the tanker, heading towards Varthur College, allegedly knocked him down and ran over him. He was shifted to a hospital but was declared dead on arrival. The police have booked the tanker driver, identified as Pradeepappa, 32, and initiated further action. In the third incident, Rajendra, 60, a resident of Kannamangala, died in a self-accident within the limits of the K.R. Puram Traffic Police Station.
According to the police, Rajendra lost control of his scooter and crashed into a road divider near Avalahalli on the national highway on Monday morning. He suffered grievous injuries and succumbed to them.
