A Delhi Gymkhana Club member has backed the Centre’s decision to reclaim the historic club premises, saying if the land is needed for public purpose and national security, the move is justified. Advocate and third-generation member Riya Sachthey said the lease deed clearly permits re-entry for public use and stressed that if the land is required for strengthening defence infrastructure, members would accept the decision.
She also urged authorities to protect staff livelihoods and provide an alternative institution for members.
