A 41-year-old man from Uttara Kannada district has succumbed to H1N1 infection at a private hospital in Mangaluru. The man, a farm labourer from Yallapur taluk in Uttara Kannada district, was suffering from fever and had got himself treated at a private clinic.
Owing to further complications, he was admitted to a private hospital in Sirsi on June 17. However, as he subsequently developed breathing complications, he was taken to Mangaluru and admitted to a private hospital for further treatment where he was found infected with H1N1 virus, according to Yallapur taluk health officer Dr. Narendra Pawar.
The man passed away on Sunday (June 21, 2026). After it was confirmed that it was a case of swine flu, the health officials contacted
the family members and asked them to take precautionary measures, including wearing mask.
