West Bengal Finance Minister Swapan Dasgupta presented the full budget for the remaining eight months of the current financial year on Monday at noon, announcing a string of major decisions on recruitment, salaries and dearness allowance. Pay Hike For Civic And Village Police In a significant announcement for the state’s civic and village police personnel, the budget has proposed a salary increase of Rs 2,000 per month.
The revised pay will come into effect from August 2026. 50,000 Teacher Posts, 1 Lakh Vacancies To Be Filled The budget carried a major push on government recruitment, with the finance minister announcing the appointment of 50,000 teachers and the filling of one lakh vacant posts across state government departments. DA Hiked By 20 Per Cent In another significant move, the state government announced an additional dearness allowance of 20 per cent over and above the existing 18 per cent DA currently being paid to state government employees. Pensioners will also receive the 20 per cent DA benefit. The revised dearness allowance will be effective from October 1, 2026.
