A major political realignment is underway in Maharashtra as six rebel Members of Parliament from a prominent Shiv Sena faction are set to formally quit the party. The rebel parliamentarians are scheduled to hold a press conference in Mumbai before switching over to the rival faction. This move is part of a continuing political shift termed Operation Tiger. In response to the defections, the faction leadership rejected claims over the party identity and accused the rebels of compromising their loyalty for political gains.
To prevent further attrition and keep the remaining legislative members united ahead of the state assembly monsoon session, a meeting has been convened at the party office. Meanwhile, a senior union minister previously stated that the rival camp has emerged as the only recognized faction of the party, dismissing the existence of any other groups. The ongoing shifts highlight the continuous realignments within the state political landscape.
