Rapid Read Image used for representation Parking rage turned fatal in southwest Delhi’s Dwarka on Saturday when a 26-year-old woman was stabbed to death, and her husband was critically injured in a violent altercation that unfolded in front of their five-year-old son. Police said the accused is a juvenile, a neighbour and distant relative of the victims, who objected to a motorcycle being parked near a spot where his father used to keep a food cart. The minor has been apprehended, while his father has also been arrested. According to the victim’s family, the confrontation escalated after the accused began shouting and hitting the motorcycle, insisting it be removed.
The woman, who worked as a domestic help in nearby households, stepped outside to speak to him, following which an argument broke out, and she was stabbed in the stomach. “The neighbour’s son started calling out to them, banging on the motorcycle and demanding that it be moved so his father could park a food cart there," said the couple’s 28-year-old sister-in-law. The woman’s husband, a security guard, was also attacked and remains in critical condition in the hospital. The incident occurred on his weekly off, shortly after he had washed and parked his motorcycle and returned indoors. The couple’s son was also present at the time. The accused allegedly stabbed the husband multiple times in the upper body. “The boy’s father was present and was encouraging him during the attack," the relative alleged. “My elder brother-in-law tried to intervene, but he too was attacked before the boy fled." Police said a PCR call regarding the stabbing was received around 2.50 pm.
Officers reached the spot after the victims had already been taken to the hospital by family members. The woman was declared brought dead, while her husband was admitted for treatment, and a case was registered. The victim’s sister-in-law claimed the juvenile had earlier also threatened her over parking space issues. “When I moved it, and my brother-in-law parked his bike, parts of his vehicle started getting mysteriously damaged," she further claimed. Relatives said neither the child nor the injured man has been informed of the woman’s death. The woman’s sister added, “The parents of the boy worked to make ends meet and send him to a private school. As the father will be out of work, who will care for him now?" The family also said the woman’s death is the fourth in their household in the past two years, noting that the child’s paternal grandparents and a paternal uncle had recently died.
