(AP Photo/Andre Penner) Belgium were held to yet another draw by Iran at the Los Angeles Stadium on Monday in the Group G encounter between the sides in the FIFA World Cup 2026.
Belgium, who played out a draw in their opener against Egypt, could only manage to pick up another point against Iran after going down to ten men as Nathan Nagoya was given the marching orders in the second half. Belgium remain winless in the ongoing edition of the quadrennial spectacle as they have 2 points in as many games in Group H. Earlier in the day, Spain produced a dominant display to thrash Saudi Arabia 4-0 in their Group H match of the FIFA World Cup 2026 at the Atalanta Stadium in the USA on Sunday, with Mikel Oyarzabal and Lamine Yamal playing leading roles in the victory.
La Roja took control early when Yamal opened the scoring in the 11th minute, netting his first goal of the tournament to give the former world champions the advantage. Oyarzabal then silenced his critics by doubling Spain’s lead. The forward had come under scrutiny following a disappointing performance in Spain’s goalless draw with Cabo Verde, during which he failed to register a touch in the opening half hour. The Spaniard struck again shortly afterwards to make it 3-0, completing his brace and ensuring Spain headed into the break firmly in command. Saudi Arabia’s misery deepened later in the contest when Hassan Altambakti inadvertently scored an own goal, capping off a comprehensive four-goal triumph for Spain.
