So I wanted to make sure that there was a reason for me to come. I’m happy to report that so far, so good." The US ambassador, a long-time supporter of Israel and close political ally of Trump, was addressing an audience on US-Israel relations and regional developments.
During the same speech, Huckabee also made controversial comments about his personal sense of security, saying he feels safer in Jerusalem than in Washington, DC. He claimed there were “crazy Hamas people" in the US capital and called Washington as a “crazy town," remarks that are likely to draw political reaction in the United States. “I can’t wait to get out of this crazy town and get back to Jerusalem where I feel safe," he said, before stressing that his remarks were not a joke. “I really am anxious to get out of this crazy town and get back to Jerusalem because I feel safe there."
