A political crisis unfolds in Maharashtra as six Members of Parliament from the Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray (UBT) faction of the Shiv Sena prepare to cross over to the Eknath Shinde-led faction. The defection strategy, referred to as 'Operation Tiger', was confirmed as a foolproof plan by Eknath Shinde and Devendra Fadnavis. Nagesh Patil Ashtikar, one of the rebel MPs, has already formally joined the Shinde faction, citing a lack of development funds and the disadvantages of being in the opposition.
Other MPs involved in the defection buzz include Sanjay Jadhav, Sanjay Deshmukh, Omraje Nimbalkar, Bhausaheb Wakchoure, and Sanjay Dina Patil. The UBT faction has indicated it will pursue legal action under the anti-defection law against the rebel MPs. Meanwhile, Rajul Patil, daughter of Sanjay Dina Patil, met Uddhav Thackeray to express her continued support for the UBT faction. The ongoing exits raise questions about the future and potential dissolution of the Uddhav Thackeray-led party ahead of upcoming elections.
