The Indian Navy has commissioned three indigenously designed and built frontline warships, INS Dunagiri, INS Sanshodak, and INS Agray, marking a significant milestone in maritime defence and self-reliance. Presided over by the Prime Minister, the commissioning ceremony highlighted the rapid progress of indigenous shipbuilding. The newly inducted platforms include a modern stealth frigate equipped with advanced sensors and supersonic cruise missiles, a state-of-the-art survey vessel featuring autonomous underwater vehicles, and a specialised anti-submarine warfare vessel designed for shallow waters.
Built at a Kolkata shipyard and designed by the Warship Design Bureau, the simultaneous delivery of three different classes of warships represents a historic achievement. The induction of these advanced vessels significantly enhances maritime survey capabilities, multidimensional combat operations, and underwater threat detection, reinforcing operational preparedness in the Indian Ocean and Indo-Pacific regions.
