A video of a group of TVK functionaries in Kancheepuram district entering a government school and allegedly disrupting class hours to display the official portrait of Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay in a classroom was widely circulated on social media platforms, drawing criticism.
Sources said a group of TVK functionaries from Uthiramerur went to Thalavarampoondi Panchayat Union Primary School on Friday during school hours with the official portrait of Mr. Vijay. In the video, they were also seen interacting with the students.
Meanwhile, local DMK functionaries objected to the disruption of class and the entry of TVK members into the campus wearing party shawls. They also submitted
a representation to the Kancheepuram Collector and officials of the School Education Department, seeking action against those involved in the incident.
