Around fifty thousand students in Jammu and Kashmir are appearing for the NEET retest across one hundred and twenty-eight highly secured centres. Authorities have deployed three layers of security, including the Border Security Force guarding strong rooms and the Air Force transporting examination papers. Students receive fifteen additional minutes for biometric entry processes. The heightened security follows previous controversies involving sub-inspector and fire services recruitment scams, alongside recent paper leak allegations.
Outside a centre in Srinagar, relatives of candidates highlighted poor logistical arrangements. They pointed out that students are not allowed to carry cash or keep bags inside, creating travel difficulties for those returning to distant areas like Kupwara, Baramulla, Anantnag, and Kulgam. Relatives also expressed a lack of confidence in the system, noting that physical ground security does not address the core issue of paper leaks, leaving students frustrated with the recurring examination irregularities.
