State-owned mining major NMDC recently inaugurated a Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Bhavan at its Donimalai Complex in Sandur taluk of Ballari district, creating a dedicated space for community engagement, social empowerment and skill development. NMDC Chairman and Managing Director Amitava Mukherjee inaugurated the facility. Constructed by NMDC, the 250-seat Ambedkar Bhavan has been conceived as a centre for community interaction, meetings, training programmes and skill development initiatives.
The facility is aimed particularly at supporting and empowering the weaker sections of society within the NMDC township. Equipped with modern amenities, the bhavan is designed to serve future generations while promoting the values of equality, education and social justice championed by Ambedkar. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Mukherjee said that Ambedkar envisioned a society founded on equality, dignity and opportunities for all.
“The inauguration of this bhavan is a tribute to Ambedkar’s ideals and a reaffirmation of NMDC’s commitment to inclusive growth. It will serve as a platform for learning, dialogue and empowerment, particularly for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes communities, while contributing to the socio-economic development of the region,” he said. The bhavan has been dedicated primarily to the welfare and aspirations of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes communities.
NMDC said that the initiative reflects its continued commitment to creating inclusive social infrastructure as the company advances towards its target of achieving 100 million tonnes per annum production capacity by 2030.
