The framework was signed on the night of June 17 at the Palace of Versailles in France. US President Donald Trump and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian signed the memorandum. The Sunday’s meeting at Switzerland’s resort town of Bürgenstock is the first high-level engagement since the two sides reached a preliminary accord aimed at ending nearly four months of conflict. ABC News quoted Vance saying that he planned to be in Switzerland for just “a day or two", leaving much of the detailed negotiations to be spearheaded by Witkoff and Kushner.
Iran Delegation: Tehran’s negotiators include parliamentary speaker Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, along with central bank and oil officials. Other Leaders: The talks will also include Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and army chief Field Marshal Asim Munir. Qatar Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani is also expected to be part of the talks. The meeting comes at a delicate time as the conflict between Israel and Hezbollah, an Iran-backed group, continues to threaten efforts to reach a broader peace and keep shipping flowing in the Strait of Hormuz. The US-Iran talks were previously scheduled to start on Friday, but they were postponed after continued clashes between Israel and Hezbollah in Lebanon.
