'Bundelkhand No Longer Symbol Of Backwardness': Yogi Adityanath Highlights Development, Targets Opposition Published By, Last Updated: June 21, 2026, 13:15 IST CM Yogi Adityanath said the government's focus was on ensuring employment opportunities for youth, providing water to farmers' fields and making villages self-reliant. CM Yogi Adityanath adressed the 'Viksit Bharat Sankalp Conference' at Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Auditorium in Jhansi. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday said Bundelkhand was no longer a symbol of backwardness and was emerging as a new model of development, citing infrastructure projects, defence manufacturing, medical colleges and employment opportunities as signs of transformation in the region. Addressing the ‘Viksit Bharat Sankalp Conference’ at Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Auditorium in Jhansi, the Chief Minister said the government’s focus was on ensuring employment opportunities for youth, providing water to farmers’ fields and making villages self-reliant. “Bundelkhand is no longer a symbol of backwardness but is emerging as a new model of development. The Defence Manufacturing Corridor, expressways, medical colleges, pharma parks and new employment opportunities have changed the face of the region," Yogi Adityanath said. He added that the youth of Bundelkhand were no longer migrating in search of opportunities but were increasingly participating in government jobs and industries. “The dream of a Viksit Bharat will be fulfilled only when every district, village and town of Uttar Pradesh becomes self-reliant and developed," he said. The Chief Minister also paid floral tributes to the portraits of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay and Syama Prasad Mookerjee before addressing the gathering.
Yogi Highlights Modi Government’s Achievements While highlighting the achievements of the Central government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Yogi Adityanath said the vision of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas and Sabka Prayas" had helped India emerge as one of the fastest-growing economies in the world. “The collective effort of 140 crore Indians is the foundation of a Viksit Bharat. When the entire country moves forward with one goal, it does not take long to accomplish historic tasks such as removing symbols of slavery and constructing the grand temple of Lord Ram," he said. The Chief Minister described the Ram Temple as not merely a place of worship but as a symbol of the beginning of a new India. Taking aim at the previous Congress-led UPA government, he alleged that the country had witnessed corruption, economic challenges and declining global influence during that period. He said that under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership, India had achieved significant progress over the last 12 years, becoming one of the world’s five largest economies and witnessing major growth in infrastructure, railways, air connectivity and defence manufacturing. The Chief Minister launched a sharp attack on the Congress and Samajwadi Party, accusing them of indulging in caste and religion-based politics after losing power. “When these parties were in power, they worked only for their families. After the people removed them from power, they are now engaged in dividing society in the name of caste and religion," he said.
